Rockford Sand and Gravel (RS&G) is the aggregate production component of our construction business. It operates 14 quarries and two sand and gravel pits strategically located throughout northern Illinois. Rockford Blacktop works in tandem with Rockford Sand and Gravel to pull jobs together seamlessly.

Rockford Sand and Gravel supplies quality, state-approved material for projects for the William Charles companies, as well as to contractors, builders and individual customers. Quality control/quality assurance is guaranteed through lab material testing by our state approved or accredited technicians who work closely with engineers from the Illinois Department of Transportation. State-of-the-art equipment enables simultaneous production of seven or eight hot mix designs to meet state or local criteria.

RS&G keeps pace with technology and boosts production with four complete crushing assembly packages and a portable hot mix plant. Ever sensitive to the environmental concerns of the industry, Rockford Sand and Gravel is proud of its asphalt recycling operation. Blasting is conducted by personnel who have passed rigorous testing and standards to be licensed by the State of Illinois. Rockford Sand and Gravel vigilantly adheres to all government regulations and procedures, operating well within the guidelines established by the State for seismographic activity. RS&G has a solid safety record and consistently meets or exceeds operational standards established by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency and the Mining Safety and Health Administration.
